Bert Tallman is a member of the Blackfoot Tribe and resides on the Blood Reserve in southern Alberta. He is a lapidary and jewerly artist known for creating one of a kind jewelry pieces incorporating Indigenous and Blackfoot designs. He specializes in working with silver, ammolite and other semi precious stones. Bert has been making jewelry since 2002 and apprenticed under well known silversmith and lapidary artist Jimmy Calabaza (Ca’Win). He has also received training in various jewelry techniques from Hazeltine School of Fine Jewelry at Santa Fe, New Mexico, and received instruction from internationally known jade carver, Deborah Wilson at Vernon, B.C. Bert also attended Idyllwild Arts Academy in California where he learned Navajo style inlay techniques from well know Navajo jeweler and sculptor Richard Tsosie as well as learning Hopi overlay and tufa casting techniques from well know Hopi jeweler Roy Talahftewa. Bert's jewelry has been featured in galleries, gift shops and personal collections and participated in art shows.
