Many artists have or participate in seasonal sales, so if you have been holding back accepting credit cards you don’t have to any longer. It is proven that if you provide credit card processing your sales will increase. The days of manual card machines, phone approvals and carbon forms in triplicate and even hardwired credit card machines are becoming a way of the past.
Use your ipad, iphone, android, Blackberry to accept credit cards. No monthly fees. The set up is free; the per transaction fees are 2.75% when the card is present and swiped using the reader attached to the smartphone and transmitted through the app and 2.95% + $0.15 when a transaction is manually keyed into the PAYD app. All receipts are emailed to customers and yourself or you can print a receipt if you have access to a printer. You can also access your account sales online and print off your sales records. Now there is a transaction limit of $5000/month for this device. If you do more than this you should contact them to set up a different plan. The reader costs $10 (1time), but their $10 rebate promotions may still be in place.
In doing the research I signed up for my card reader for Artists in Canada. Normally we do payments by PayPal on line, but now with the mobile card reader we can now offer another method of payment. It’s all about convenience and not everyone uses PayPal. The swiping device attaches to the top of your mobile phone, plugging into the audio port.
You can even use the device where wifi isn’t available. Most new devices can be used as a hot spot, so now you can take it most anywhere and receive payments for your work on location. Set up is easy, straight foreword and intuitive. Once set up you can test the process as often as you like to get used to the device. No transaction happens at this stage.
There are a number of unknown tertiary providers in this market, but they want lots of personal information to set up your account, including access to your bank account. Small upstart providers may come and go, so you need to decide who you trust to be there for you when providing your transactions. I decided to sign up with Moneris – the original and trusted provider of mastercard and visa for the banks. They will also need to have access to your account to deposit your sales. Their card reader service is PAYD.
Check it out!
This article is for the interest of all artists. Artists in Canada received no remuneration by PAYD® or Moneris® for this product awareness.
Happy sales,
