Facebook and Instagram – updates they don't readily share with you.

2021 effective now, we are seeing dramatic changes in social media. First off, there is no free lunch and Facebook is a prime example. Your messages will be delivered to even less followers unless you pay to send them. Their new algorithm determines the content and your followers, so they can position their ads on your newsfeed. I used to post a Facebook message on our Artists in Canada Facebook page, then share the same message on my personal page. This is a NO, NO - and will be penalized because of it. I tried it this week and it hit the preverbal wall. 
 
Facebook has 2.72 billion users and about 75% are on it daily. Your content is key to keeping your followers engaged. Here are a few suggestions.

  1. Fresh content for each post
  2. The first 3 lines will be displayed, so keep key message at the top
  3. Post the same time each day 
  4. Shares are regarded higher than likes
  5. Encourage people to SHARE rather than LIKE 
  6. Don’t purchase BOOSTS they are poor value
  7. Purchase a targeted ad is suggested even $1/day for a campaign period
  8. Don’t add website links in your text (mention link in your profile)
  9. 2 hashtags for Facebook. 10-12 for Instagram max

 When you jump through these hoops, Facebook increases your reach, a little.
 
Five things to consider when selling using Facebook and Instagram. Always give more than you receive in the beginning.

  1. Identify and Find your audience (see your FB Analytics)
  2. Grab their attention – what would your audience want from you?
  3. Build a relationship – giveaway, talk, etc. – get a name and email.
  4. Follow up – 98% don’t respond on first message – use the email contact.
  5. Close the sale or whatever is intended from your initial message
