Developing a Revenue Stream using your Art.

Posted: February 17, 2019

 Introductory Article – Part I

I don't have to tell you how difficult it is to make a living from seling your art. You probably don't realize it, but you could be sitting on a pile of untapped art revenue. All the artwork you have made over the years, some you have sold, but if like most artists, you are the owner of the bulk of your art. Few artists can sell everything they make, unless all you do is commissions. I know artists that rent out their public sculptures, least art in offices, apply for public exhibitions and shows and get CARFAC Fees.

Even Picasso understood the aspect of multiplying your art through other processes and buyers wants. He created an industry in a town for ceramic ware that depicted his art. Much of it in the beginning he actually drew on the pots and vessels with glazes. He also created lino cuts and had an atelier make his prints for him. As you can see from the banner at the top of the article, images representing the artist can be used in many ways.

Using high resolution digital images of your work, you can make prints on canvas, paper, fabric, earn publishing royalties, make calendars, books and more. When you place your art on certain items your brand awareness and potential market increase substantially. Use your social media's to promote the items and post them on your website and Artists in Canada's Art Sales Gallery, other on-ling sales galleries or submit to book publishes and retails stores accepting consignment. (
Note: Make sure you have an itemized list and a contract spelling out the agreement.)

We are always interested in how you generate income as an artist. If you are willing to share, please send me an email.

We will talk about this further in the weeks to come on Artists in Canada and how we may be able to help you generate more revenue for yourself using the art you have already produced.
