Filleting Fish, Monotype litho ink on Rising Stone Henge, 22in x 30in - Paul Constable

Having just come back from a fishing trip, I realized a startling fact, it takes skill and know how to find where the fish are, what they are biting on and of course getting them into the boat. I am not a great fisherman, like golf I do it about one a year, but I managed to hold my own among the more experienced. Knowing where they hang out and what they were biting on was the most important thing and I was lucky enough to keep switching until I found what worked. After that you let the fish come to you and you help them into the net. I don't mean to belittle art patrons by this fishing analogy, but we are all driven by different needs. And for every need there is an artist. Some are better at art sales than others and sometimes it might be best to sell each others work instead of your own or better yet, let your Art Gallery do the job they are best at.

Does this sound familiar with the production of art and the sale of art?

Artists in Canada just launched a new GeoIP interface that will effect every artist in the country. Our hook is that each city can now become a home page for all Canadian artists in cities across Canada. Think of the advantages; an artist only has to compete among their local artists to get notice, not the whole database which exceeds 7000 Canadian artists. Now, those artists choosing to become members are positioned on these home pages with images and copy, as well, their listings sport a thumbnail image adjacent to their copy, which is placed ahead of non members. This listing page becomes a veritable smorgasbord of members images for the viewer to easily scan and review. They also know they are all accessible right in their area. Choose your image hook well and you will be on your way to new friendships and patrons living in your area.

Members also receive national exposure through our Canadian Featured Artist listing.

Go over your fishing check list and compare it to your artwork and art sales methods. You will find they are very similar.

Take care
