Anna Bateman, nee Aigner, was born in Austria but has been a Canadian citizen for over 30 years. Her passion for art has long been expressed in a variety of mediums including fashion and costume design. Her initial commitment to painting began recently and she soon discovered great skill in floral interpretations using both oil and acrylic paints on canvas. As a student at the Art Gallery of Ontario School of Art, Anna has grown rapidly as an artist with a keen eye to abstract representations of floral and landscape subjects. In this media, she provides explosions of color and texture – both soft and vibrant – in a variety of themes. Her recent exploration into toddler art resulted in the unique growth charts featuring caricatures of various animals. Her artistic achievements in Toronto have resulted in a large number of sales to an appreciating audience and as a result, her work now hangs in private collections across Canada.
