COLLECTIONS
The Canadian Sport Heroes Collection is a commissioned series of large-scale portraits celebrating the achievements of remarkable Canadian Olympians. Currently comprised of 17 paintings the Collection was unveiled during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and is currently on loan to the Ampersand business complex in downtown Calgary. Thanks to the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary, ARC Energy Trust, BMO Financial, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and Alberta Culture.
The Sport Legacy Collection, a visual tribute to Olympic sport, is a series of six smaller paintings which were commissioned by the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary. The original paintings can be seen in Canada's Sports Hall of Fame while reproductions of these paintings are hanging in the Calgary International Airport.
DANCE & DANCERS
While working on these Collections Gordon recognized a close connection between the Olympians he painted and elite ballet dancers. This love of dance resulted in a 20 year association with Alberta Ballet during which he completed many drawings and paintings of these amazing dancers. Gordon has also completed major portraits of National Ballet of Canada icons Sonia Rodriguez, Rex Harrington and Frank Augustyn.
Recently Gordon has turned his attention to the pageantry, colour and high energy world of Bollywood and is thrilled to be attending rehearsals at Sparq Productions to draw the dancers and study this amazing art form.
LANDSCAPES
Not limited to portraiture and dance, Gordon has quietly produced an extensive series of landscape paintings ranging from the foothills of the Rockies to the Canadian prairies and the northern lakes of Ontario.
His work can be seen in Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, Winsport Canada, Alberta Ballet, the Calgary International Airport, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and numerous private and corporate collections
