James St Laurent Photography: Through my lens, “things are not necessarily what they appear to be.” I am always looking “for what else things might be”. Through the use of deception, I lure, engage and provoke.
The CUBIST MONTAGES include a collection on STILL LIFE images, musical INSTRUMENTS and an ongoing series of nudes, LES INCONNUS.
WATERCOLORS is a collection of ephemeral “rainscapes” - an interplay between water, reflections, cobblestones and streets.
WINDOW FRAMES present a fascinating contrast between windows and reflections contrasted against their surroundings. An interplay of reflections on open and closed windows, framing contradictory and confusing subjects.
IN THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS features tricks of the light that conjure ghostly elements mixed with fictional narratives frozen in brief intangible juxtapositions in a parallel reality.
ÅLCHEMY is defined as the process of taking something ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary - a seemingly magical process of creation and transformation.
dk - The process of DECAY in leaves appears to be a metaphor of our own slow decline.
MINIMALS explores the power of simplicity. To reduce a subject down to an essence, simple geometric shapes, stripped of metaphor, repre- sentation and metaphysics.
PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE- A work in progress, where a mysterious white clad figure appears with a white parasol oblivious to everything other than what is directly in front of her gaze and completely uninterested on what lies behind.
The website also features concert images of artists photographed performing live from around the world.
