Painting, Landscape, Abstract
I paint abstract landscapes or cityscapes of places I have seen or imagined. By simplifying the scene into uncluttered shapes, I encourage the viewer to fill in the details with their own personal vision or story.
I am particularly interested in the use of texture and colour. I build the works with multiple layers of acrylic paint, using a variety of tools and scrapers for both paint application and removal. This method produces an undulating surface texture with colours peeking through at many levels. This results in a field of lively colour and a mystery of place.
