Visual artist Leslie Leong uses her practice to tackle global issues and ask hard questions. With a tenacious curiosity, a desire for new ideas, and a deep commitment to ecological health, sustainability and social justice, she is able to focus on detail without losing sight of the big picture. She uses whatever materials are necessary to convey a message and provoke questions.
Raised in BC, Leslie had a short career in engineering. A mountaineering trip to Baffin Island triggered 25 years of living north of 60. She has exhibited internationally with over 20 solo exhibitions, and has taught in the Northwest Territories and Yukon. Her work can be found in public and private collections in Canada, USA, Germany, UK and Australia.
