Artist Statement
My mixed media painting and textile artwork are in continual flux. Sometimes it is paint alone, then I am inspired to use textiles or fibre from the land beneath the paint, leaving my painting with a type of relief on the surface. Other times, the surface of my paintings are flat when I use pencils and other drawing materials. Recently, I have begun to make paintings with embroidery and I have abstracted them by quilting them. Continuing this theme, I have for a time also used materials from my studio waste, paint and cloth, to make artwork, and so I have begun to reuse and recycle cloth items from around our home and also from recycle stores where I live. If I travel away from home, I check out those areas for some more interesting materials. I will be adding more images to my website so viewers can see the diverse textured work as they are completed.
