After 60 years of dabbling in art, I have finally found my place in the world and am realizing my artistic dream. My journey includes living with a Neurological Disorder called Essential tremors. With tremors in both hands, painting - at times - is an enormous challenge. As there is no cure for this disorder. The tremors will worsen and will alter my painting, making my works display a new and exciting form of their former selves.
My most recent expressionist works convey and celebrate the beauty and power of women, as well as the realities of their lives. I focus on the turmoil and sadness, the struggles and pain as well as the complete joy that comes from deep within. My works show a soulful approach that captures the essence of the person’s character and persona.
What makes my works and style unique is that I make use of different tones and hues to depict human facial expressions. The gestures, grimaces and emotional states are a real gallery of the most diverse dreams, depressions, ridiculousness, pride, sometimes reflection and melancholy. I also use mixed medium techniques to add texture to compliment the usage of colours, giving it finishing touches that differentiates me from other expressionist artists.
Everything that surrounds me directly influences the topics of my works. I rather consider my painting as studies of emotions and sensual experiences and treat it as an intimate diary of complexity and diversity of human nature.
It's comforting to know when I pass on from this world I'm leaving behind something positive - paintings for people to appreciate and be inspired by.
