Ashley Thimot is an up and coming Canadian artist born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Her current preferred medium is oil but growing up she loved to experiment with a variety of mediums. Her curiosity and love of art revealed the talents that eventually led her to study Fine Arts at Mount Allison University, in Sackville, New Brunswick. After her first year, she transferred to Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in Halifax to pursue graphic design. In April 2007 Ashley completed her Bachelor of Design with a Major in Graphic Design. Throughout her time at NSCAD she nourished her passion for fine arts through painting, illustration, and life drawing. Her education and experiences now influence Ashley’s current works: the vivid and lively portraits that are fast becoming her signature.
Immediately after graduation, Ashley moved to Western Canada and began working in the fields of Design and Marketing. During this period Ashley continually created pieces for pleasure and practice. When Ashley moved to Edmonton in May 2012, she flourished as an artist. She created an active presence on social media and began donating pieces for charity. Her work was shown at Edmonton art gallery, Latitude 53, event and she created multiple commissions that help comprise her portfolio. Ashley continues to work on her vibrant portraits and is currently planning her next series. These planned works will look at women as they get ready to sleep. It investigates the different habits/activities as before bed rituals.
