Macnab spent her formative years on Canada’s west coast. As a young adult she was drawn by and ventured to the Saskatchewan prairies. The prairies’ wide-open space, proximity to the boreal forest, and long winters provided a perfect opportunity for Macnab to develop her skills as an artist. Through chosen educators Bonny has allowed herself to explore and master techniques that interest, challenge and feed her passion for art. Her obsession with nature based work has expanded to encompass plein-air painting to eco-printing, carrying over her technique to textiles, particularly silk.
Macnab’s work has acquired many awards and can be found on numerous residential and commercial walls across the globe. In the past six years she has had three solo shows depicting her textile work. Her most recent two-demensional project, a mural housed at the Mosaic Stadium, Regina, Sk, portrays celebration and memory in the medium of oil and digital. In 2020, Macnab was nominated by Rivers West District Volunteer Recognition Award for Artist of the Year. In 2021 Bonny will be working on her Canada Council Grant researching western Canadian plants that print on fiber through eco-printing process.
In the company of other accomplished artists, Macnab attends various artist retreats, enhancing her inspiration, curiosity and skill. As she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and passion for the arts, Macnab works with the schools and Saskatchewan arts board “Artists in Schools Projects” as well as teaching at Ness Creek. Bonny encourages and hosts a variety of art classes and retreats at her studio near the boreol forest in midwest Sackatchewan.
