I founded The Art of Being Human to meld the disciplines of art and health which have been the focus of my artistic work and my art teaching experience. My work ranges from acrylic painting and sculptural ceramics to painting on silk but the explorations have all centered on the individual and how he/she fits 'into' themselves and the society at large. Medical research in art and health in Canada now acknowledges and is encouraging a cross over of the disciplines and my involvement with the medical community is to promote the benefits of engaging in creative activity for the health benefits, insights and choices that it helps the individual to recognize for themselves. Individuals that are more aware of their choices are then enabled to shape their lives and ultimately their communities and the world at large. I also teach Art for Health and Expressive Art courses in a wide variety of venues to people of all ages and abilities.
