"Fine Sculpture" represents the latest stage in Donna Jean Mayne's art career, which spans more than three decades. On completion of her undergraduate work in Fine Arts, Donna further refined her skills at Detroit's Center for Creative Studies and was later appointed Art Director for dozens of Canadian public mural projects.
Donna's personal works are inspired by the exquisite grace of the human form and influenced by tranquil imagery of the Neo-classical era.
Her first in the series of bronze sculptures titled, "Dono Dell'Acqua" (Gift of Water), grew out of her volunteer work as a safe-water advocate. These figures portray romanticized stewards of water caught in the simple act of caressing it with extended fingers and toes. The first two in production were both awarded in 2015 Sioux Falls exhibitions in South Dakota.
Donna's most current works include life-size bronze commissions including a recent tribute to the incredible Ms Mary Ann Shadd (Cary).
