Intense and dramatic, Gary Crawford's works draw the viewer in. Layer upon layer of brilliantly contrasting colours are laid down, or thrust upon the viewer. These layers energize the work with a certain deliberate tension. And then there is the light - part of the final layering process that lifts the spirit and draws the eye to explore the depths of the work - time and time again.

A beautiful, healthy and highly intelligent looking bear pauses in the arctic night. The light reflects brightly in its eye. Its reflection in the melted snow symbolizes the fate that awaits this bear from a warming planet. As if looking through a scope, a polar bear is spotted paused in the dark of the arctic night. I think it senses spring is coming, evident by the melted snow at its feet. This artwork is an oil painting on canvas. The canvas is round with a 36”diameter. It comes framed in a black frame.

Arctic fox lives in the Arctic and The Northern Boreal Forest. This photo was purchased from Reference photos for wildlife artists although I did manage to take some photos while visiting the EcoMuseum Zoo in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Montreal.
A Grizzly encounter is thrilling when at a distance. My trips to Alberta have awarded me three separate grizzly moments but never too close. Last viewing was while driving through Jasper we were thrilled to see a Grizzly with her 2 cubs. Cubs remain with Mom for 2-3 years.
I have a vivid memory of a winter storm driving from Swan Hills to Whitecourt Alberta and a gorgeous lynx crossing my path. I recently took some lovely photos while visiting the Eco museum Zoo in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Montreal. They are stunning. I tried to capture their beauty with a very detailed acrylic painting.
The loving scene as two cubs scurried down a tree to join their mother. Alberta
