Continental Drift showcases the resilience of our Earh and its frailty all at the same time. We walk on what we perceive to be solid ground yet the Earth’s continents move ever so slightly each year appearing to “drift” across the ocean bed over the millenniums.
Luscious colors and contrast are the emphasis of this piece. See yourself floating on a lazy river filled with incredible blue waters and vibrant waterlillies and you have arrived.
This painting features a variety of acrylic gels well as a myriad of gold and orange colors that creates the look and feel of a river of gold running through it. I describe it as my imagined viewpoint looking down upon the Earth from space. It is a very textural and visually “hot” piece that can be interpreted many ways. Have fun with your own imagination.
This sultry little piece reminded me of watching the opening of petals on a flower in early Spring.
In this experimental piece I wanted to explore a particular compositional design style called strata. I had the painting in what I thought was a perfect place and then it happened: I dropped some gold colored oil by accident. Well, as the saying goes: if you make a mistake repeat it elsewhere which is exactly what I did. The result was so much better than I expected. At the end of it all, the painting reminded me of Vincent Van Gogh and how he lived in his small room and what his view may have been.
LE-10 I have seen these strikingly coloured birds on occasion on my morning walks along the Victoria harbour. They keep in a tightly knit group. Since the water is quite cold they often stand on just one leg; warming the other under their feathers.
This piece is painted on 1 1/2" gallery wrapped canvas. Many layers of vibrant color were painted on the canvas with some added sand. Edges are painted in black so that it may hang as is or you can frame it for a more traditional look. For protection and a wonderful sheen, many layers of varnish were added. Painting comes ready to hang.
