Scarlet Macaw in an Ontario landscape
Travelling through the Similkameen Valley and Manning Provincial Park in B.C. you will follow the river, 197 km (122 mi) long. Home to eagles, osprey, red-tail hawk and mountain goats, and in the fast currents and deep pools, mountain whitefish, rainbows and cutthroat. The rugged beauty of the Similkameen River is evidence of nature’s power; flowing from the Cascade Mountains, the river carved the beautiful valley over 200 million years ago.

A magnificent mountain range stretches across the horizon, its peaks awaiting the touch of the clouds. Through a dense forest, our gaze is drawn to a serene lake, its waters a mesmerizing shade of crystal-clear turquoise. The serene lake rests peacefully, mirroring the majestic mountains, and exudes a sense of serenity, the calm preceding a storm. Above, stormy clouds gather, their dark hues hinting at an impending shower. The approaching darkness casts an enchanting shadow upon the ground, hinting at the imminent rainfall. The landscape patiently with eager anticipation, awaits the rain, while the lake eagerly embraces the prospect of replenishment of more life-sustaining water. This artwork captures the delicate balance of nature’s cycles.
In September the trees in my neighbourhood were already starting to turn yellow, orange, and red. I couldn’t wait to get my paints out and capture the beauty. I imagined all the ways that I could recreate these magnificent colours and decided I would complete a small series of paintings dedicated to my favourite season, autumn. The fall colours were exceptional this year and each day I hurried outside to observe another tree transforming. I wanted to gather as many references as I could before the leaves started to drop. The sights I saw took my breath away. The hot days and cold nights had set the trees ablaze with colour, harmonized in a way that only Mother nature could conjure. I have tried to embody the fleeting beauty of this season on my canvases. I hope that when you see this series you feel as though you are walking through a glowing autumnal landscape.
In this tranquil underwater scene, a serene sea turtle, known for migrating thousands of miles in its lifetime through ocean basins and high seas, glides effortlessly through the heart of a vibrant coral reef. The turtle’s graceful motion is captured amidst a kaleidoscope of corals, their colours ranging from the deepest blues to the brightest orange & yellows. Surrounding the sea turtle, a of small school of orange fish, dart back and forth, embodying the bustling life of the reef. Above, gentle waves dance with the light of the sun, casting shimmering patterns onto the ocean seabed, further illuminating the scene with a play of light and shadow. This painting embodies the peaceful coexistence of marine life, offering a glimpse into the untouched beauty of the underwater world.
