Chinese Ink on Rice Paper; gallery canvas substrate, black floating frame. This painting was created at the invitation of Jacelyn Holmes (jazz musician and country music songwriter) in support of her 2020 CD release. Initially, the CD title was deliberately withheld by Jacelyn to encourage creativity and inspiration for the artist. I was asked to listen to her entire CD and select a song that spoke to me and then create a piece of art that was representative of the song. The song that spoke to me most was Dovetailing, which turned out to be the title track of the CD by the same name. The process was inspired by listening to the song and creating a feeling of one becoming more than one. One being magnetically drawing in a multitude of feelings from another that could not be ignored. Look closely as the painting also includes the lyrics.
Reflection on Jung Architypes
If you look closely at this beautiful woman, her left eye has strabismus, also called ‘lazy eye’, which I had in my teenage years. My intention with this painting is to show the beauty of our imperfections.
