On this day the sky was talking and the flowers were listening, they were in fact taking direction from the clouds. Oh I wish I knew what the clouds were saying. I harbour a guess that it was chatter about the fall arrival and what they needed to do to prepare- up until now there was much play in the garden and they did indeed need to prepare for what was coming. Don't worry, they were not in trouble, it happens like this every fall, they are use to it!
I couldn’t remember when they would arrive. I kept asking my family, have you seen them yet? Maybe they will not come to play in our yard this year? Maybe we did something different with the garden and they don’t like it? ALAS, they have come to play and they are delightful!
What a marriage made in heaven, the sweet scent of sweet pea rising up through the wind to greet cotton candy clouds.
The wind always carries a tune, no accompaniment needed but it is always welcome. Any age and any stage of life, you only need to sit amongst the flowers to feel as though you are a part of everything. Close your eyes and breathe in the scent, tune into the buzz of the field, think on the wind to your skin and flow like the flowers in the breeze. If you know, then you know - we are ever lasting, forever young, a part of it all.
Heady aroma of growth and flowers in motion, growing and chattering through their scent on the wind. Who are they talking too? The birds, the clouds, the trees, the wind; their perfume speaks to all of everything if you just close your eyes to hear.
If you could re-wild some land, sew some seed, plant some tubers, cultivate some climbers, what would you choose? Foxglove is a must have on my list, sun flowers for the the way they chase the sun, roses to bring a thorny shelter for the little critters and lots and lots of delicious pollen makers for the bees... A pondering on re-wilding
Reaching into the texture of flower season. I am really pleased with the poppin of those florals! WOWZERS. They will cast their own shadowy dance by the light of day. This is a Sturdy girl in need of a solid nail to keep her up!
Walk with me through the flower field, the earth is warm and the flowers are cool, the humidity hangs in the air at this level as we breathe in the rich humus scent. This is where you can hear them whisper, this is where you can hear the gossip from nights past, just hanging on there under the leaves. This under painting was care of “Bread and Butter” wine. Let’s say she had her fair share of communion wine. This Fresco is layer upon layer of detail, if not with texture then with washes of glazed paint. From deep purples to bright aqua blue in just the right spots. She is a yummy delight!
