Lest we forget (Sacrifices oubliés)
Our soldiers, men and women, young and old, answered the Canadian Armed Forces’ call since the First World War (the Great War) until still in process peace missions around the world today. Moreover, they currently provide help to civilians in war torn countries. Thousands of our soldiers died on the battlefield and as many came home severely wounded. Others, without physical wounds, were suffering from what was later identified as post-traumatic stress disorder, (PTSD). Years go by and we forget. We take their sacrifices for granted. All artworks here exhibited show scenes of the past wars complemented by scenes of today to remind us of what our Canadian soldiers went through in order to give us the life we currently enjoy. We must always keep in mind: “Let us remember FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE”. (Publicity, Sainte-Anne Hospital Foundation, 2011).
