Intense and dramatic, Gary Crawford's works draw the viewer in. Layer upon layer of brilliantly contrasting colours are laid down, or thrust upon the viewer. These layers energize the work with a certain deliberate tension. And then there is the light - part of the final layering process that lifts the spirit and draws the eye to explore the depths of the work - time and time again.

Please note: This painting must ship in a custom crate to protect the frame and so takes longer than normal to be shipped. This painting is framed. A beautiful, healthy and highly intelligent looking bear pauses in the arctic night. The light reflects brightly in its eye. Its reflection in the melted snow symbolizes the fate that awaits this bear from a warming planet. As if looking through a scope, a polar bear is spotted paused in the dark of the arctic night. I think it senses spring is coming, evident by the melted snow at its feet. This artwork is an oil painting on canvas. The canvas is round with a 36”diameter. It comes framed in a black frame.

I tore through the prints and stencils I judged as "rejects" and stitched them together as symbolic gesture of healing and building something new and positive from the fragments of the past.
As I walk around the city of Victoria, my home, I am struck by the massive changes as the race to house the population speeds up. There is a certain beauty in this industriousness. I feel the energy in the vehicles and have tried to capture a sense of this in my work
