Watercolor painting of Northern lights in wintry landscape, navy blue mat, black metal frame. As it was so cold the night we saw the Aurora Borealis, and it was so cold in the couple weeks following, I felt it was appropriate to try the frost paintings again. Frost pattern paintings are something I try every year when the temperature is low enough. I put a wet watercolor painting outside until it freezes. It works best with temperatures below -8C. It was in the range of -25C to -40C with the windchill. When I leaned the painting up outside to freeze dry, gravity, salt and the frost worked together to create the effect of the pattern in the sky.

Silk Scarf 100% Charmeuse Eco dyed. I live in Saskatoon, SK but every two years I travel to New Zealand to participate in an International Art Collaboration called CollaboratioNZ. This scarf was dyed during one of my visits to New Zealand. I usually take a suitcase filled with silk scarves and silk yardage to dye while I'm there. I then spend most of my days foraging for different varieties of eucalyptus leaves and other natural materials such as Kawakawa leaves, bits of Kauri bark (gathered from the ground), and flax pods. I'm quite partial to the shapes and colours obtained from the various eucalyptus leaves that I gather. The age of the leaf, the time of year. and the amount of rain in a given year are all factors that affect the size of the leaves, and the colours they give. Other factors are the way you fold, clamp and/or wrap the bundles, the water used for the dye bath, the temperature of the bath, the amount of time you simmer the bundles, and whether or not you use a mordant. Because of these variables each scarf is unique and virtually impossible to replicate. Ceres is the Roman goddess of agriculture and grains and comes from the Indo-European word root, “ker”, meaning “to grow.” Ceres is the origin of our modern word cereal.

This should take no more that 72 hours to undertake. If circumstances should arise, the buyer will be notified of any delay. Insurance will be that of the carrier, unless specified different by the buyer. The artist will request a tracking number for the artwork and a copy of it sent to the buyer and Artists in Canada. The artist will include a Certificate of Authenticity with the delivery of the artwork.

(In some circumstances free shipping may be furnished by the artist) Upon receiving the artwork, the buyer has 72 hours to approve the art as shipped. If Artists in Canada does not hear from the buyer after 72 hours, it will be taken that the art is accepted. No refunds or returns will be accepted after that time. The artist will be paid in accordance to the agreement with Artists in Canada. Refunds will be made if the art is not received in the condition as viewed on the online gallery. All claims will be between the artist, the buyer and the carrier. Artist in Canada will not be held responsible for anything related to delivery, damage or any issues arising from a dispute about the art. If the artwork is not to the buyers liking, it may be returned to the artist within the initial 48hours, but at the buyers expense and in the same condition as originally delivered.

A receipt to the buyer and the artist will be furnished at the completion of the sale by email PDF. Applicable taxes collected on all sales will be submitted to the Government by Artists in Canada.

Original mixed media abstract composition in navy and gold metallic acrylic and inks and multi crackle textured surface. I am an intuitive painter. I receive inspiration from my thoughts and imagination. I love the lake and the boreal forest at the cabin. My home is amongst the aspen trees in an agricultural rural setting in the heart centre of the country. I am located in the Interlake of Manitoba between 2 large fresh water lakes. Water vistas as large as a sea, Star fields across the night skies. My compositions are mostly abstraction and abstract landscapes. The paintings begin with a feeling and leads to the colours. Many times I would like to recreate a favourite painting. I find it impossible so every piece is a one of a kind.
